Hill College, Tadubi, unlike other colleges, saw the light of the day under direct sponsorship of the Government of Manipur in the year 1978. This college is located 100kms far away from the capital city, Imphal and 2Kms away from the National Highway No. 39 popularly known as Imphal - Dimapur Road, at an isolated and interior hill top. This College is situated in between the latitude degree of 24.8 and longitude degree of 93.95 with an area of 17.25 acres. In view of a strong public demand for a college in such a remote corner of the district of Senapati some time ago, the government of Manipur felt the necessity of setting up of a college in the district. Accordingly, the government of Manipur sought permission to start P.U. classes from Gauhati University. As a result, Gauhati University in their letter No. Aff/143/9/1610 dated 23.11.79 addressed to the Secretary of Education, Govt. of Manipur, issued permission to start P.U. 1st year Course from the session 1979-80.

The College, after having acquired sufficient number of both teaching and non- teaching staff members, started looking forward to upgradation of the College. Consequently, the Governor of Manipur was pleased to accord approval of upgrading Hill College, Tadubi, under order No. 1/18/87-S/SE dated 7.10.1987 to a degree college commencing from the academic session 1987-88 by starting T.D.C. classes. The College was initially affiliated to Gauhati University and later, to Manipur University. Consequent upon the establishment of Manipur University on 5-6-1980, all the then 47 affiliated and permitted colleges of Manipur were brought under the university. Hill College, Tadubi, was granted affiliation by Manipur University for the session 1981-82 for pre-university Arts with the following subjects: English, Economics, History, Political Science and Education. In course of time, the Governor of Manipur was pleased to accord approval to the opening of T.D.C. course along with Honours classes in Political Science and History under order No. 3/6/79-S/SE(1) dated 3.5.1994 from the academic session 1994-95. Finally, Manipur University accorded permanent affiliation upto B.A. in 1995. At present, with the introduction of Semester System by  Manipur University, the College is going on with the subjects offered in the college; 1) English, 2) Economics, 3) Education, 4) Political Science, 5) History and 6) Environmental studies ( specially for G.F.C.). For all these development activities going on in the college, out of the total area of 17.25 acres an area of 5,000 sq.m. has been covered by structures constructed already.
